Little girl with little white glasses
Little girl with a little pink dress
Little girl with little wrapped chocolates
Little girl or my little princess
You came into my life when I needed you the most
But then you vanished in an instant down an alley like a ghost
As I stood there in the crossroads looking every way but up
Well I knew that you'd departed, and left me tenderhearted in the dust
So where you might have run to, my little angel?
My little messenger from heaven with a hug
Where you might have run to, my little angel?
Angela
The story seems familiar like I'd heard it once before
As if like someone else had seen you on a distant foreign shore
As she waited in the torrents, out of nowhere comes a hug
And at once the girl departed, and left her tenderhearted in the dust
God sends his little friends when we're sad
God sends his little friends when we're mad
God sends his little friends when we're feeling pretty bad

Desert island me
With the stress of a coconut concussion
Am I lost at sea?
I floated, now I'm drifting in the ocean
Where will inspiration strike?
Punch me in the face, maybe I'll think better with my lights off
Where is the unending well of creativity that they promised me?
I'm surrounded on all sides by chocolate and blondes
But I can't find a muse to satiate poetic lust
This albatross and I are on a first name basis
It's water, water, everywhere but I can't hear myself think
Slick oasis me
With the stress of mirages in the distance
Could they really be?
I thirst now, does it really make a difference?
Is this what my life is like?
Keep me on the clock, maybe I'll think better when I'm goofing off
Where is the unending will that used to carry me through opportunity to opportunity?
Write what you know
Reap what you sow
So I don't know what to write or to reap or to show
I know it's time to go
But I won't go
Without light, without sleep
Without writing this piece
Without peace
Is this what I really like?
Pull the ball away, maybe I'll think better when I'm prostrate
Where is the unending wall that embargoes me from making poetry?

This year has really been a headache
What cheer to ring the new one in again
I fear that I'm setting up my murder
It's clear this year has only brought me pain
It's Christmas!
Merry Christmastime
It's time to sing and mull some wine
Or apple cider
As we sit by the fire
And wait for old St. Nicholas to come

Do you want to be in my band?
'Cause I could use somebody who could play the guitar
Do you want to be in a band with me?
"Cause I could use a real drummer's feet kick-keeping the beat
Do you want to be in a band?
'Cause if I pick up the bass, I'll need someone to sing
Singing, "Do you want to be in a band with me?"
'Cause this one-man isn't complete
There'd be no money, there'd be no fame
There's no venues left that'd let us play
But I'd write the songs and we'd sound really good
And that's what art's about, isn't it?
Do you want to be in my band?
We could get a professional engineer
Do you want to be in a band with me?
We could take a little social retreat (it would be neat)
Do you want to be in my band?
A trumpet or accordion could keep things fresh
Do you want to be in a band with me?
'Cause this one-man isn't complete
I might go out on a power trip
I could smash to bits all your instruments
But I probably won't, that doesn't sound like me
So do you want to be in a band with me?
Do you want to be in a band with me?

I could while away the hours conferring with the flowers, consulting with the rain - but who has time for that? I regulate my mood with musical catharsis and publish my diary on the internet for the whole world to hear, wearing my heart and my influences on my sleeve like a man who really needs to do laundry. ... more
